We’re decolonising the word Black when speaking about Blak people, by removing the ‘c’ in our literature and event titles. No traditional African language has the Latin letter ‘c’ and its accompanying sound. It was introduced with colonisation and was substituted by colonisers whenever they saw or heard the ‘k’ sound. As such ‘c’ will usually translate as another sound in traditional African languages. Find out more
